Great Support
I also received a lot of mail, from family and friends. Something that is always nice! Including an incredibly sweet card from the nurses at UMCG (University Medical Center Groningen). The shared care hospital where I spent a lot of time during my first treatment for leukemia. The staff at UMCG is also incredibly kind and compassionate, and I always feel warmly welcomed! I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful people at UMCG as well!
The sentence on the card "Dou goud wat mout, zet altied deur. Hol kop der veur" is written in a dialect and can be translated to English as "Do well what must be done, always persevere. Keep your head up" or "Do well what needs to be done, don't give up. Stay positive." It is an encouragement to persevere, keep going, and remain optimistic, even in difficult times.
The very kind ladies Marije and Denny from the pedagogical team from the Prinses Maxima Centre also come by occasionally for a nice chat, and if you're having a tough day, they're great listeners and can provide helpful tips. During the difficult periods during my treatment
We also have an incredibly kind, thoughtful, and empathetic social worker, Babet.
She faithfully visits us every week for a pleasant chat and assists with anything you need help with.
Last but not least, i received tremendous support from my colleagues, both then and now.
The people in the kitchen wish me strength and success and say they hope I can join them again soon.
I have truly received tremendous support from them, for which I sincerely want to thank them!
The same applies to all nurses and doctors, of course, at the UMCG and the Prinses Maxima Centrum. A thousand thanks to all of you, for everything what you have done for me and my family. And everything that you are doing for us in the future!
